Our current strays

We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

If your pet has been brought to the Springfield Humane Society as a stray, it will be necessary for you to pay impoundment and boarding fees and show proof of ownership to claim it.  Ownership can be proven through evidence of a city license, current rabies vaccination certificate or vet records describing the pet and showing you as owner.  Proof of ownership is required to protect pet owners and their animals and ensure that no animal is claimed by the wrong individual.

If you are a resident of Weathersfield and your pet is picked up by the town constable and assigned a case number, it will be necessary for you to go to the Town Offices to pay fees prior to coming to the shelter.  The Town will issue a receipt for you to bring to the shelter for claiming your pet.
